Paediatric Oncology

Clinic of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine - Paediatric Haematology and Oncology

The focus of the Clinic of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology is on the treatment of children and adolescents with disorders of the haematopoietic system and malignant diseases.

Because of its high quality standards, its participation in national and international therapy optimization studies and its wide catchment area, the clinic is one of the largest paediatric oncology centres in Germany. One particular focus is on the treatment of patients with acute leukaemia, patients with bone and soft tissue tumours and brain tumours, as well as the field of autologous (where donor and recipient are the same person) and allogenic (donor and recipient are different people) haematopoietic stem-cell transplants.

Due to the high demands placed on the diagnostics and multi-modal treatment approaches, patients are cared for in an interdisciplinary network. This includes the fields of pathology, neuropathology, radiology and nuclear medicine, the surgical disciplines of paediatric surgery, tumour orthopaedics, urology, thoracic surgery and neurosurgery, as well as numerous other specialist disciplines such as radiation therapy, transfusion medicine, microbiology and laboratory medicine.
